Least likely Cardinal makes surprising decision on basketball future

Surprising indeed.

While Kentucky gets all the hype for "one-and-dones" under coach Calipari, Louisville has still put some good pros into the NBA and overseas. It takes longer than a year, but guys find their way to the league and it seems like one more Cardinal is trying to do that in forward Jaylen Johnson.

According to a release from the school, Johnson will forego his senior season and sign an agent to stay in the NBA Draft.

"After a lengthy conversation with Coach P I have decided to hire an agent and forego my senior year," said Johnson.  "I will miss my teammates and coaches, but it is really important that I help out my mom and family. I'm going to work incredibly hard to give it my best shot. I'll be rooting for the Ville next year."

The 6'9", 230-pound forward from Ypsilanti, Mich. averaged eight points and 5.8 rebounds per game while getting a start in 26 games and seeing action in all 34. He had 14 games where he scored in double figures and had three double-doubles this past season as well.
