"Danny had a minor back procedure this morning and everything went all right," Orgeron told The Advocate.
Etling played in five games for the Tigers last season, and he won the starting QB job over Brandon Harris during the season.
However, Etling struggled in the spring game. He completed four of his 11 passes for 53 yards.

Quarterback Justin McMillan didn't fare much better in the spring game, and Lindsey Scott Jr. and Lowell Narcisse didn't appear to be ready to challenge for the starting job either.
Etling threw for 2,213 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions in 11 games for LSU last season. He played his first two seasons at Purdue before transferring to LSU.
Etling's back issues could've contributed to his struggles during the spring game. Either way, the LSU QB competition will continue into the fall.
