As far as development cycles go, Starbreeze Studios' The Walking Dead has had about as much bad luck as one title could handle. Announced in 2014 after a Payday 2 themed month-long event that had many fans expecting content instead for the cooperative, crime-centric shooter, The Walking Dead has had few players excited even from the beginning, and recent news indicates that it will likely stay this way.

In an announcement over their official website, Starbreeze has revealed that The Walking Dead will be delayed until 2018, nearly 4 years after the game's original trailer was released.
[Warning: Disturbing Content]
According to the blog post, the title will instead release sometime in the second half of 2018. A (roughly translated) quote from the Swedish studio's CEO, Bo Andersson Klint, has explained the reasoning behind the decision:
"We, together with the development of OVERKILL's The Walking Dead decided to extend the production schedule so that the title will reach their full potential and pursue our original vision a step further. Along with Skybound Entertainment we are fully dedicated to releasing an unforgettable experience for fans across the world and then continued to support it with high quality content in the coming years."
As this is the second time that the title has been delayed, some have begun to wonder if Starbreeze has simply taken on too many projects for one publisher.

The studio is, after all, developing at least five separate titles currently, with multiple trailers and unveilings scheduled for a livestream later this week. Dedicated fans will hopefully be rewarded for their patience with some actual game footage during the event, which will be on Wednesday, May 10 at 9:00 AM Pacific. Be sure to check it out over the official Twitch.tv channel, or stay tuned to upcoming developments from Starbreeze over their website's blog.
