Tennessee had a 9-4 season in 2016, which was disappointing considering the expectations for the program following a hot start to the season. There performance also became a bit of a joke after head coach Butch Jones famously proclaimed that his players had won the most important championship of all: the championship of life.
Well, now Tennessee has given more fodder for criticism and jokes, whether it be deserved or not. As the Knoxville News Sentinel reported on Friday, Tennessee players will be receiving two rings for their 2016 season: one for the "Battle at Bristol" win over Virginia Tech in Week 2, and another for the Music City Bowl win over Nebraska.

To defend Tennessee, bowl rings have become somewhat common in college football in recent years. And in a vacuum, receiving a ring for a game as unique as the Battle at Bristol isn't too weird either.
However, Tennessee getting two rings after the up-and-down season they had was certainly fodder for rival fans to tee off with their own set of jokes.
