After leaving Tennessee for a 2nd time, former four-star QB may have found transfer destination

He still has two years of eligibility remaining.

Sheriron Jones has had a (very) interesting college career. The former four-star quarterback prospect once transferred from Tennessee to Colorado for only a few weeks (before returning to Knoxville) but, this time, Jones appears quite serious about leaving the Vols program.

We have known for a while that Jones was leaving Tennessee but Ryan Bartow of 247Sports now reports that he is bound for Independence Community College at the JuCo level. The report also indicates that Jones is likely to return to FBS with two years of eligibility remaining and that would certainly follow a fairly common path for players looking to maximize their talents at the highest level.

Jones earned only one completion during his time at Tennessee and it makes sense that he wanted to transfer after being surpassed by both Quinten Dormady and Jarrett Guarantano on the depth chart at the quarterback position. Still, it will be interesting to see where he lands in the future. There is a great deal of talent here (as evidenced by his four-star pedigree and the fact that Jones will almost certainly be in demand) and an FBS program will likely receive a big-time addition for 2018 and beyond should he perform well at Independence Community College.
