There were two fan bases greatly saddened in 2011 when Indiana and Kentucky decided to discontinue their annual rivalry game. It had been running for 42 consecutive years, but did not continue because 2012 because the two schools couldn't agree on a venue. It seems that with a new head coach though, Indiana has a new perspective on the game and it sounds like we could get a renewal of the series.

With the hiring of former Dayton coach and rising star in Archie Miller should come a fresh outlook on recruiting, playing and even scheduling games. He told told fans and media at the annual IU event at Huber's Orchard and Winery Wednesday that the resumption of the rivalry "needs to happen."
Indiana's AD Fred Glass has also said publicly that he would be willing to budge on some of the previous hangups like going back to the school's campuses. He also said that he was optimistic that the rivalry could be renewed because of its important to both schools. He was also hoping to get it done within the next five years before non-conference schedules fill up.
While the regular season series stopped after 2011, the two teams have met twice since then in higher stakes games. The Wildcats beat the Hoosiers in the NCAA South Regional semifinals en route to the national championship in 2012. Indiana returned the favor with a second round win over Kentucky in 2016. Kentucky leads the all-time series 32-25.
