That's what Eric Banks, a former Jacksonville, FL., high school basketball star, and his family want to know.

Banks, now a college basketball  player, says he was falsely arrested and jailed for three nights for a crime he didn't commit, and now he and his family are demanding authorities clear his record.

Eric Banks told Action News in Jacksonville that he was arrested on suspicion of a felony armed robbery that happened in January.

Banks' mother told the news station the family had evidence that her son wasn't even in the state when the robbery happened — he was with the Shaw College basketball team in Raleigh, NC., which is more than six hours north of Jacksonville.

"It's crazy that all your freedoms can just be taken away out of nowhere," Eric Banks said.

The charges were subsequently dropped, and now, Banks family is trying to get the arrest wiped off his record.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the State Attorney's Office told Action News each office is looking into what happened.

Banks, a 6-foot-4, 180- pound small forward, is entering his junior year at Shaw, a NCAA Division II Program. He averaged 3.7 points per game as a sophomore.
