Word broke in late June that Lasamuel Davis would be transferring away from the Clemson Tigers and his absence will absolutely leave a hole for Dabo Swinney and company. Now, though, a report indicates that Davis will be transferring down to FCS and will be available to play immediately.

His destination will reportedly be South Carolina State.
The 6'4, 210-pound defensive lineman was a four-star prospect coming out of high school, ranking as the No. 31 defensive end nationally by ESPN and consistently in that range elsewhere. However, Davis missed the 2016 season as a result of a redshirt and, by the nature of his exit, it is clear that Clemson did not work out as the perfect fit that it appeared to be as he left high school in the state of South Carolina.
Davis was a factor in Clemson's spring game but, from there, things apparently did not progress as hoped. A transfer down in level will allow him to pop back up to the highest levels should he excel at his FCS destination and, if that happens, it is a safe bet that some of the best programs in the country might come calling.
Until then, it appears that Lasamuel Davis is bound for South Carolina State, at least for a year.
