Rule changes this season could result in coach ejections

We could have a first in NFL history.

It's far less common for football coaches to be ejected than baseball managers and basketball coaches. In fact, no NFL head coach has ever been ejected from a game.

But that could change with an addition to this year's rule book resulting in automatic ejections for two unsportsmanlike conduct fouls, which not only applies to players, but also "non-player personnel" including management personnel, trainers, equipment personnel and, of course, coaches.

The two-foul rule will only apply to specifics types of fouls, which include abusive language directed at an opponent or official. It's rare for a coach to be flagged multiple times for an abusive language foul, but it's still a possibility.

If it does occur, that coach will become the first in NFL history to be disqualified for a game.
