The Miami Dolphins are bracing for the worst news possible — that starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill will need season-ending knee surgery.

Tannehill, the former No. 8 overall pick, was injured on a non-contact play Thursday morning, where his left foot planted, immediately hit the ground and had to be helped to the locker room by trainers. Here's a video of the play:

Tannehill was wearing a knee brace on his left leg, the same leg he suffered a sprained ACL and MCL last season.
Earlier report said the Dolphins were "concerned," but that has, apparently reached a new level, based on the most recent reports.
Tannehill is a five-year veteran, starting 77 games while throwing for more than 18,000 yards, 66 touchdowns and 80 interceptions.
Given the injury, the Dolphins will most likely be in the market for a quarterback, and the Dolphins are considering adding the one man who has been as toxic as a arsenic to at least some NFL owners — Colin Kaepernick:

Jay Cutler retired this spring and he was ready to call it quits for good, but it looks like there's one situation that could get him back to the NFL. According to a report from Jeff Darlington of ESPN, Cutler would come back if he was the starter for the Dolphins:

Gase was the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears in 2015 while Cutler was there so he wouldn't have to completely relearn an offense. However, the Dolphins would have to be willing to pay starter money it seems in order for Cutler to get back on the field and on pretty short notice considering the season starts next month.
