Three Aztecs have come down with the chicken pox, and head coach Rocky Long told the San Diego Union Tribune that he is concerned about more players being infected in the future.
"I'm afraid that it might not be just three of them," Long said. "The team's been together for a whole week now.
"It's dramatic if we lose a few more. ... What if it hits 10 other ones?"
Linebackers Temerick Harper and Tyler Morris and guard Ryan Pope have all contracted chicken pox. Long said the training staff is attempting to figure out which players have been vaccinated and which haven't to help prevent other players from contracting the virus.
Long said he didn't even know people could still get chicken pox in the United States and that he was "shocked" when his players contracted the virus.
The Aztecs can likely manage without some players against UC Davis, but they will need to be full strength the next two weeks against Arizona State and Stanford.
