Saban didn't provide any further details about the incident, however, an ABC 2 News report out of Columbia, Maryland identified 25-year-old Meiko Locksley as the victim of an alleged shooting that took place at around 10:30 p.m. Sunday night.
According to police, multiple 911 calls were made after a single gunshot was heard outside of Locksley's home. No additional information has been released about the suspect at this time.
Locksley was a walk-on at New Mexico for one season in 2011 during his father's final season as head coach. He was dismissed by the program shortly after his father's termination following several off-field incidents.
The older Locksley joined the Alabama coaching staff as an offensive analyst in March 2016 and was promoted to an on-field coaching role in January 2017. He has previously worked as a head coach at New Mexico and Maryland (interim), as well as an assistant at Florida, Illinois, Army and several other programs.
