Now, Cox will reportedly pay the price as he faces a possible suspension for the incident, according to Sporting News.

On Monday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that the league would look into the play "for potential discipline and possible suspension," according to a source.

Staley confirmed the orbital bone fracture to NinersNation.com, but said he won't need surgery.

Staley told Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee that Cox put his hand inside his face mask, which led to the injury.

The lineman also confirmed to the Sacramento Bee that his eye didn't suffer any damage and that his vision is fine, "which is rare, apparently," in regards to his injury and is expected to play again this season, although a timetable for his return has not been confirmed.
