Speculation about the next coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers is interesting, simply because Mike Riley remains gainfully employed. However, the former Oregon State head coach lost the Athletic Director that hired him earlier this year and, as a result of that and struggles on the field, speculation is rampant that Riley could be on the outs in Lincoln.

With that in mind, many have jumped to anoint UCF head coach and former Nebraska quarterback Scott Frost as the next in line but, with Florida and potentially Tennessee open in the coming days, Nebraska likely won't be the only program in play for his services. Stewart Mandel of The Athletic addressed that in his latest mailbag column and, while Frost makes sense, he floated another sleeper name. (h/t Land of 10)
If either new AD Bill Moos is not as high on Frost as you might assume and/or Frost is not interested, he'd be smart to consider another former Husker, Wyoming coach Craig Bohl.
It does make sense that Craig Bohl could be an option, as he was a player at Nebraska and an assistant coach more than a decade ago. It would not be the sexiest hire given Bohl's age (59) and relative lack of a national profile, but he was dominant at the FCS level at North Dakota State and his work at Wyoming has been largely lauded.
Craig Bohl wouldn't move the needle nationally but, if the Huskers strike out elsewhere, he'd be a nice fall-back option.
