Nation's No. 8 safety Brendan Gant makes an early commitment

Gant is the No. 8 safety in the nation.

Four-star safety Brendan Gant (6-foot-2, 185 pounds, Lakeland, Fla.) is one of the top recruits of the 2019 class, but it looks like Gant has already reached a conclusion on his commitment; on Thursday, the four-star announced that he had committed to Alabama.

First off I want to thank God for blessing me and letting me be able to do what I do on the field and more importantly in the classroom I want to thank my parents & family for everything, my coaches for being there for me and molding me into a great young man, my teammates throughout the years because with out all of them I wouldn't b the person I am today. After prayer hard and talking with my parents and my coach I would like to announce that I am committing to The University of Alabama

While there is a lot of focus on the 2018 class right now thanks to the early signing period, don't underestimate that some 2019 recruits may start to get ahead of the curve as things start to shift to their class.

Gant is the No. 8 safety of the 2019 class. He is Alabama's fifth commitment of that class.
