The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly ready to name Randy Fichtner as the team's new offensive coordinator. In case you somehow missed it, this report comes only hours after the storied franchise kicked Todd Haley to the curb.

Haley was with the Steelers since 2012.
This report comes via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The outlet states that the only thing that needs to be done to finalize the deal is an approval of the contract.
Many projected either Fichtner or offensive line coach Mike Munchak to get the gig. Neither have any coordinator experience, but with Munchak turning down a second interview with the Arizona Cardinals, it was easy to believe the Steelers were aiming for some stability with the staff.
Fichtner, who was one of Mike Tomlin's original coaching staff members, would make five of Pittsburgh's last eight offensive coordinator hires come from within the franchise. Whether or not you agree with the tactic, it is that sort of consistency in hiring practices that helps in making the Steelers one of the best franchises in the entire National Football League.
A quarterback and receivers coach, Randy Fichtner got his start in Pittsburgh after Ken Anderson retired. He spent his previous years at the collegiate level.
