Things could have gone awry with 8.4 seconds remaining in the game though. With the Cleveland Cavaliers out of timeouts, David Blatt's attempt to call a timeout went unnoticed and uncalled. If Blatt had been recognized before assistant coach Ty Lue made the save, the team would have been called for a technical.
The NBA responded in its Last Two Minute report, noting, "Blatt (CLE) attempts to call a timeout when none remain. None of the three officials saw Coach Blatt signal for a timeout."
While that's possible, it sure looks like at least one ref noticed, shook his head no and continued on:
The league, and these two teams will move on to Game 5, but this doesn't look good for the officiating crew to completely miss what could have been a game-changing call.
