An inspiring story unfolded at Chiefs training camp this week when record-breaking Central Missouri running back, LaVance Taylor, pulled on a red Jersey and took reps next to his football heroes.
On Wednesday, Taylor took to social media and sent out queries along with a 12-minute highlight video to several teams in the NFL, including his hometown team, the Chiefs.
Taylor credits his father, LaVoid, with the idea of reaching out via Twitter. The day after sending out several tweets, Taylor was thinking about where he would apply for jobs. Then. he got a call from his agent.
The Chiefs were interested.
"I felt like my heart was about to pop out of my chest," Taylor said. "I was here in about an hour."
The Chiefs found themselves in need a running back after releasing Cyrus Gray and losing Keshawn Hill to a hamstring injury. On Thursday Chase Daniel worked as running back on Thursday. Taylor was the team's lone running back for Friday's workouts.
