The six-time All-Pro guard is considering not reporting to training camp, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Martin is reportedly unhappy with the current situation with his contract, but the Cowboys are uninterested in giving the 32-year-old a new or restructued deal.

Following the news being leaked that Martin is considering a holdout, the Cowboys offensive linemen decided to update his Twitter profile picture, changing it to a photo of him in the Madden 99 Club as one of the only players in the video game with a 99 overall rating.

The timing of the updated picture was not lost on Twitter users, with the replies to the tweet noting why the 32-year-old might have decided to update the photo.

Despite being one of the best offensive linemen in football, Martin believes that he is being paid unfairly compared to other players at the position, according to Schefter.

Martin is currently in the middle of a six-year, $84 million contract that will expire after the 2024 season. While that was a massive deals at the time, Martin is now just the ninth highest-paid offensive guard in terms of average annual salary, behind the likes of Brandon Scherff, Elgton Jenkins, and Quenton Nelson.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old guard continues to be one of the most dominant interior offensive linemen in the NFL. According to Pro Football Focus (subscription required) Martin allowed zero sacks and just 17 pressures in 2022 on 706 pass-blocking snaps.

Although Martin is getting older, the six-time All-Pro has been one of the most reliable and consistent offensive linemen in football with almost no indication that he will be slowing down anytime soon. If the Cowboys aren't willing to reaffirm their long-term commitment to Martin, then the situation between the two sides could get ugly heading into training camp and the 2023 regular season.
