Deion Sanders Trolls Arizona State Over Self-Imposed Bowl Ban

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders took some shots at Arizona State over their self-imposed bowl ban.

In typical Deion Sanders fashion, the Colorado coach found a way to compare a real-time NCAA scenario to something relatable for all of us — this time, focusing on Arizona State's self-imposed postseason ban this year.

During a press conference, Coach Prime was asked about postseason bans, and Arizona State — the team Colorado plays this week — came up.

Before the season, Arizona State handed itself a self-imposed postseason ban this season to hopefully soften the punishment from the NCAA after violations during former head coach Herm Edwards' stint surfaced. Those violations have put the program in the crosshairs of the NCAA.

In response to the question, Sanders related it getting "butt-whoopings" as a kid from his mother.

"My momma used to hand out whoopins back in the day, right," Sanders said. "So if I did something stupid, I'd be like, 'You know mom, I don't even wanna go to the game tonight, I'm not even going,' cause I know that would lessen the whoopin. So, if that's what they're doing, I understand, because I've done that before.

"'Hey momma, I ain't even going to the fair, I'm good, you don't have to spend no more money on me, I'm straight. Nah, come on in and get that belt.'"

Arizona State's self-imposed ban might help the program in the long term, but the current players — especially the seniors and those headed to the NFL — will miss out on perhaps a lost bowl opportunity.

The Sun Devils are just 1-4, so they could fall short of the mark anyway.

The 3-2 Buffaloes head out on the road to take on the Sun Devils for Week 6 of the college football season on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
