Urban Meyer, the former head coach for college football programs like the Utah Utes, Florida Gators, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars, is now an analyst for FOX Sports, and he recently named the best college player in the country.

It should come with little surprise given Meyer's past coaching tenures and who the player himself is, but Meyer claims Buckeyes wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is the best player in the country.
"Number one, best player in America, Marvin Harrison Jr., has a huge day. Eight catches, a buck-62, and a touchdown in Ohio State's big win over previously undefeated Maryland."

This clip included Meyer's biggest takeaways from Week 6 action, including the Michigan Wolverines defensive dominance and Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach Matt Rhule getting his first win of the season with his new program.
As mentioned, Meyer coached the Buckeyes from 2012-2018 before taking a break from coaching and coming back to coach the Jaguars for a portion of the 2021 NFL season. During his time with the Buckeyes, Meyer went 83-9. He's 187-32 all-time as a head coach in college, which spanned from 2001-2018. He didn't coach the 2011 college football season.
Looking at his pick for the best player in the country, Harrison Jr., it's hard to argue with him.
Through five games this season (Ohio State had a bye in Week 5), Harrison Jr. has seen 45 targets, caught 25 of them, and has gone for 499 yards and four touchdowns. He got off to a bit of a slow start as starting quarterback Kyle McCord got a feel for starting real college football games, but as Meyer mentioned, he had a big Week 6 performance against Maryland at home. He saw 13 targets in the game, which was a season-high.
Harrison Jr. is considered the top wide receiver prospect for the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft and may even be a contender for a top-three pick.
