2002 Daytona 500 champion, Ward Burton, is getting back behind the wheel of a racecar.
On social media, Burton posted, "It's happening..... Jeb Burton convinced me to get back behind the wheel. Excited to have some fun Orange County Speedway for the Rogers Heating & Cooling Orange Krush 200."

"We're so excited to partner with Rogers Heating & Cooling for this event," Burton said. "I'm looking forward to having some fun out there on the track again with some of the best in the business and have the opportunity to race against my son!
"I can promise we'll put on a great show for the fans and hopefully raise a lot of money and awareness to further The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation's conservation and outreach efforts, including continuing to expand opportunities to host Veterans and their families at our properties and events."
Proceeds from the event will go towards The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation to "Promote the sustainability of our natural resources through conservation, land management, outdoor outreach and educational practices," according to the foundation's web site.
The 62 year-old Burton is no slouch at "America's Fastest 3/8-mile." He has a win there in 1993 in the Busch Grand National Series (currently NASCAR Xfinity Series). Burton is also the 2001 Southern 500 winner and 2002 Daytona 500 winner. Wheeling a racecar is not a problem for Burton.
Other major names in the event as of right now are Ward's son, Jeb Burton, Jeremy Mayfield, Peyton Sellers and Deac McCaskill.
The Orange Krush 200 at Orange County Speedway will be on Thursday, March 28th. The winner will take home $15,000 while helping to raise money for a worthy cause.
