The Netflix docuseries, "NASCAR: Full Speed" has been a huge success, and it has already started pushing NASCAR to look into other ventures.

A second season appears to be likely, and with the success the show has garnered, it has also piqued the sport's interest in making a return to the silver screen.
It has been a long time since Cole Trickle hit the racetrack. The film Days of Thunder, which was released in 1990, featured Tom Cruise as the leading man and also starred Robert Duvall and Nicole Kidman.
Things could be lining up for a return to racing for Cruise's famous character. Cruise himself has long wanted to get back behind the wheel of a stock car. Now it sure seems like NASCAR itself is open to doing so as well.
Adam Stern from Sports Business Journal, posed a question about the possibility of a second Days of Thunder film being made to NASCAR COO Steve O'Donnell recently, and his response certainly should get fans excited.
"We'd love to see that," O'Donnell said. "The more places we can expose NASCAR to with a broader audience, the better. With Netflix, when they're advertising us in the middle of Times Square right now (for the 'Full Speed' docuseries) — that's huge, and it shows what a great partner they have already been. So anytime you can expose the sport outside of a regular race weekend broadcast is big for us."
Back in 1990, the film was a major success, as the SBJ report stated it grossed a whopping $82 million at the box office and is still one of the best films ever made about NASCAR.
As for how it will all work out, Cruise has the rights to the IP of the film, so it's truthfully up to him if a sequel were to be made.
One can hope, with NASCAR on board, a Days of Thunder 2 is on the table. Cole Trickle back on track sounds like a great idea.
