Bill Belichick couldn't come to an agreement — or perhaps get an offer — on a head-coaching job, but it does appear he received at least one offer.
It came from no less than San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanhan, who said on "The TK Show" podcast that he offered Belichick a job on the coaching staff of the defending NFC champions. Belichick, of course, took a pass.
"I did, I threw it out to him," Shanahan said. "He loves football so much that you never know what he ... I can't believe that he's not a head coach of a team right now. I know what I would do if I was an owner, so that shocks me, and the last thing you want to do is insult someone like Bill Belichick. But I know he just loves ball in its simplest form, so I threw it all out to him, whatever he wanted to do."
Belichick was offered the role of defensive coordinator — which eventually went to Nick Sorenson.

"I was like, 'Would you be interested?' And he was very nice and appreciative, but he politely turned me down," Shanahan said.
Belichick is likely at the stage where he wants to coach his own team, so you can't really blame him. For now, he's going to serve as an NFL analyst on the CW.
It's true, as the CW Network has announced that the New England Patriots coaching legend will be among the analysts on its Inside the NFL studio show, starting this upcoming season.
But wait. There's more.
"Belichick, who coached the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl titles during his 24 years at the helm, will also appear on the ManningCast during ESPN's Monday Night Football," ESPN wrote. "Belichick also joined The Pat McAfee Show for its NFL draft coverage in April and is scheduled to appear weekly on the show during the NFL season."
