Alabama Football Transfer Killed After Being Hit By Car

Former Alabama football player Terrance Howard died from injuries he sustained after being hit by a car in North Carolina, the school confirmed. Howard was struck while moving to North Carolina after transferring from Alabama to North Carolina Central.

Per AL.com: "Howard, a Texas native who was a member of the Crimson Tide team as a walk-on in 2023, transferred to North Carolina Central during the offseason. He was moving his belongings from Alabama to North Carolina when the accident occurred, his mother told Houston's KHOU-11 TV."

Howard did not appear in a game as a defensive back for the Crimson Tide, but did travel with the team as a walk-on.

Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer addressed Howard's death in his Sunday press conference.

"Before I make comments on the team, I do want to send along thoughts and prayers," DeBoer said. "Terrance Howard, who was with us and transferred on to North Carolina Central, he did pass away and he's got some guys who are here on this team close to him and also think about him. Just want to send prayers and thoughts up to his family."

The tragic accident reportedly occurred near Salisbury, North Carolina.

"Howard was involved in a minor traffic accident near Salisbury, N.C., then got out of his car to check on the other driver. A third car then struck him and critically injured him, according to KPRC TV in Houston," AL.com wrote. "Howard was hospitalized with critical injuries in Charlotte, where he later died. He was not carrying identification at the time of the wreck, so it took several days to notify his family."

Go Fund Me account has been set up for Howard's family.
