Well, the NFL comeback for receiver Martavis Bryant has hit a speed bump, given that he was released by the Washington Commanders on Tuesday.
But hey, there's always the practice squad.
Bryant, 32, signed with Washington two weeks ago after saying he believed he had a lot of football left. That's despite the fact he hasn't played in the league since the 2018 season.
Nonetheless, new coach Dan Quinn cited Bryant's size and "catch radius" as reasons for the Commanders' decision to give him a look. But even then, Quinn suggested it would be an uphill climb.
"A fourth-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2014, Bryant's once-promising career was derailed by multiple violations of the NFL's drug policy," Steve DelVecchio of Larry Brown Sports. "He was reinstated last year and signed with (the Dallas Cowboys) late in the season, but the opportunity did not last long.
"Bryant was an effective receiver for the Steelers for three seasons and has amassed 145 catches, 2,183 yards and 17 touchdowns in his NFL career. His best year came in 2015 when he caught 50 passes for 765 yards and 6 touchdowns over just 11 games."

Washington finished 4-13 last season, one year after making the playoffs, hiring Quinn to replace Ron Rivera. They open the season on Sept. 8 with a visit to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Bryant could always return to the Commanders' practice squad should no one else decide to pick him up.
