Caitlin Clark Jokes About Reaction To Tweaked Ankle: 'I Looked Really Soft'

Indiana Fever star and leading WNBA Rookie of the Year candidate Caitlin Clark can sometimes be her own worst critic, it seems. Look no further than Clark's minor injury during the Fever's 84-79 road win over the Atlanta Dream.

That's when Clark turned her ankle and was forced to head over to the sideline. She appeared to be in considerable pain.

But she eventually returned to do what she always does, helping the Fever get the victory as they continue their march to being the league's most improved team.

Anyway, Clark sort of laughed off the injury.

"I saw the replay. I looked really soft," she told reporters. "It wasn't that bad of a turn, but it hurt. Sometimes you need to give yourself a second. If you've ever sprained your ankle, it kind of stings for a little bit. I was good. They were like, 'Do you want to go in the back?' I was like, 'No, please, just tape right here, let's go.' You gotta keep going."

Clark finished with 19 points, seven assists and seven rebounds — tying the WNBA mark for most 3-pointers made by a rookie in a season with 85. She will break that in the next game (in this one, she went 4-of-9 on threes).

The Fever improved to 14-16, and those 14 wins mark the most for the franchise since 2016.

"Our chemistry has improved," Clark said of the Fever's recent play, adding that for her individually, she is "really excited because I feel like there's so many areas for me to continue to get better, and that's exciting as a player."
