It would be hard to find a hotter team that the Indiana Fever in the WNBA at the moment. It would be even tougher to find a better rookie than Fever guard Caitlin Clark.
All of that could be seen in Indiana's 84-80 home win over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, as Clark knocked down three 3-pointers to give her 88 on the season, setting a league mark for threes by a rookie with nine games still to go. She entered the night with 85, putting her in a tie with the Atlanta Dream's Rhyne Howard, the No. 1 overall pick and Rookie of the Year in 2022.

Clark finished with 19 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds — making her the first player in WNBA history with six straight 15-5-5 games.
Oh, and the Fever are no 15-16 after a 1-8 start. That includes a 12-6 mark since June 10, the third-best in the league since that date.
Not to be lost in all this is the recent play of fellow Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell, who finished with 23 points to become the first player in franchise history to score at least 20 points five games in a row.

By the way, the Sun (22-8) beat the Fever handily in the season-opener, and this was Indiana's first win over Connecticut in nine games.
"The maturity and the toughness that my players showed tonight was just incredible," Fever coach Christie Sides told reporters. "We're watching them grow up, from where we started to where we are now. Connecticut is an incredible team. I'm so proud of these players."
Clark already held the WNBA rookie assist mark. We can now add threes to the list.
"I just think it speaks to the way we play offense," Clark said. "Just fast, uptempo. I feel like I'm definitely capable of shooting it a little bit better."
