Josh Allen kicked off the 2024-25 NFL season by leading the Buffalo Bills to another win. He also tied a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the process.
The former Wyoming quarterback tossed two touchdowns during the 34-28 win over the Cardinals — one to Mack Hollins and another to Khalil Shakir. He rushed for two more touchdowns.
This marked Allen's fourth career game in which he has thrown for two touchdowns and rushed for two touchdowns. It broke his tie with Cam Newton and moved him into a tie with former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Steve Young for the most in NFL history.

Allen's first career game with multiple passing touchdowns and multiple rushing touchdowns was in 2018, his rookie season. He suited up against the Dolphins in the season finale, and he led the team to a 42-17 win. Allen threw for three touchdowns and rushed for two during this blowout victory.
Allen's second time achieving this feat was in 2020. He threw for two touchdowns and rushed for two more during a 48-19 win over the Broncos.
The veteran QB's third time accomplishing this feat was actually during a loss to the Eagles. He threw for two touchdowns and rushed for two more during Week 12 of the 2023 season. However, the Bills lost 34-37.
The interesting part of this statistic is that Allen registered his fourth career game with two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns while working with a revamped receiver group.
Stefon Diggs is now in Houston while Gabe Davis is in Jacksonville. Shakir is back, and he capitalized on his opportunity with a touchdown in the opening game. Former Falcons receiver Mack Hollins caught the other touchdown.
Meanwhile, rookie receiver Keon Coleman led the group with 51 yards receiving.
"I think one of the positives that we have is we have a bunch of guys that just kind of can play a bunch of different spots, and Josh is comfortable in them," offensive coordinator Joe Brady said ahead of Thursday's matchup with the Dolphins.
"And so I was excited for the guys. A lot of guys make plays on balls, and so we were able to move the chains from that perspective."
Allen will continue to build chemistry with this new lineup of pass catchers, and he will have another opportunity to break his tie with Young during a pivotal AFC East matchup.
He and the Bills will kick off Week 2 of the 2024-25 season by visiting the rival Dolphins. Prime Video will provide coverage for this game at 8:15 p.m. ET.
