The first NBA father/son duo have teamed up after LeBron James' first child, Bronny, was selected with No. 55 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Los Angeles Lakers GM Rob Pelinka told a story about James Sr. and Jr. going up against each other at the practice facility, while playing in a pick up basketball game.

"Maybe the challenge is on Bronny when, like in our pickup game, I think it was yesterday or two days ago, he got switched on to LeBron, and LeBron took him baseline and up and under off the glass and the words exchanged afterward were probably more challenging than anything else." Pelinka said.
LeBron later took to social media on Wednesday afternoon to respond to this on his Instagram story, "Great defense. Better O."

Evidently LeBron will not be taking it easy on his son, as the two teammates are preparing for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season. With much anticipation mounting, fans are hoping to see the James duo dominate on the court together. That is to say, head coach JJ Redick was asked by reporters if the Lakers had any game plan in place to have LeBron play with his son.

"We don't have anything planned, per se, in terms of a commitment to do it this way," Redick said. "We obviously have talked about it as a staff, and we've gotten it into some specifics of what that might look like, but we haven't committed to anything. And obviously there's a discussion to be had once we're all together with Bronny and LeBron too, they should be a part of that discussion as well."
Ultimately, fans will seemingly have to be patient as Bronny will, more likely than not, develop his game in the G-League, playing for the South Bay Lakers most of the season.
The first chance to see Bronny and LeBron suit up for an NBA game together will take place when the Lakers host the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 22 at Crypto.com Arena.
