Mayfield Gets Candid About Bucs' "Great Opportunity"
The Buccaneers have had wins over quality opponents to start the season. They have already scored wins over the Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, and Philadelphia Eagles. But divisional games carry a different vibe where anything can happen. That uncertainty is only heightened for the visiting team.
But Baker believes that this trip to Atlanta is just what the Bucs need, especially if they want to be true competitors going forward.
"This is a great opportunity for us to build on what we've had so far, playing against a visiting divisional opponent. We know what a burden it is to play this type of opponent," Mayfield said.
"We try to approach every game the same way, but every year is different. We were 3-1 at this point last season, too, but we don't take anything for granted now. We have to be more consistent, it's a long season and we have to keep getting better and just build as the season goes on."
Mayfield will also have a few extra eyes on him his publicized back-and-forth with NFL legend Tom Brady. Mayfield, who was formerly Brady's backup in Tampa Bay said that upon Brady's arrival, the locker room became stressed out. However, Tom hit back during the Fox on NFL broadcast last week, noting that he was trying to bring a winning culture back to the franchise.
After a highly publicized beef with the greatest quarterback ever, all eyes will be on Baker to deliver in primetime.
