Emotions seem to be boiling over in the New York Jets locker room after their loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. After losing a second straight loss and falling to 2-3 on the year, Jets star pass-rusher Quincy Williams appears to be fed up with excuses.
Quincy Williams Puts Jets Locker Room on Notice
After the early game in London, Williams told reporters in the locker room that it was time for everyone in the organization to start taking accountability.
"I'm going to be honest, people get tired of hearing the same s—t. People gotta start taking accountability. People get tired of hearing the same thing every week. That's all I got to say," Williams said to reporters.
The Jets defense has held up this season. Their opponents are only averaging 14 points per game over the last three games. But good defense only matters if the offense can take advantage. And the Jets have not done so. They have scored just one touchdown in their last two games. And to this point in the season they have not been able to cross the 25-point threshold themselves.
Pressure on Robert Saleh to Deliver This Season
This isn't the first time that the term "accountability" has surfaced in the Jets locker room. It also happened last week after their loss to the Denver Broncos.
During the post-game press conference, Jets head coach Robert Saleh suggested that the Jets' struggles on the offensive side of the field were just a matter of switching up their cadences. But Rodgers had a harsh response to that suggestion.
"That's one way to do it. The other way is to hold them accountable," Rodgers lashed back.
The seat in Saleh's office appears to be getting hotter. The Zach Wilson experiment did not pan out and he was given a pass for that. Then Rodgers gets injured on the first drive of the season. No biggie. But this year is officially put up or shut up season for the Jets head coach.
Rodgers has been healthy for the most part and has elite weapons on offense such as Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson. The defense is also among the hhighest-ratedin the league. If Saleh can't turn this season around, you wonder if the Jets would consider making a change at head coach.
