Longhorns Plant Their Flag Through Baker Mayfield Jersey
The Longhorns defeated the Sooners easily in a 34-3 blowout. And after the game Texas showed why the rivalry between them and Oklahoma is one of the most bitter modern-day sports feuds. After the final whistle had blown, the Longhorns took the jersey of former Sooners star Baker Mayfield at midfield and planted their flag through it.

As usual, the viral moment led to several reactions from fans on social media.
"Still salty Baker cooked them 6 years ago," one fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, adding a significant amount of clown emojis.
"Mayfield hasn't played CFB since 2017 this is lame asf," another fan added.
The Longhorns' gesture seemed to be in response to Mayfield planting the flag on the midfield Texas logo after the Sooners defeated them in the 2017 Red Rivalry game.
James Franklin Nixes Penn State's Flag Plant Attempt
Planting the flag seemed to be a recurring theme in Week 7. The Penn State Lions did the same thing after beating USC — or at least they tried to. The fourth-ranked Nittany Lions beat the unranked Trojans 33-30 in overtime on Saturday. And tried to plant their flag in the Trojans logo at midfield. But Penn State head coach James Franklin was in no mood for his players' antics as seen by the scowl on his face as he charged for midfield before taking the flag and heading to the locker room.

The lackluster performance from his players was likely the catalyst of his displeasure. The Nittany Lions came in as the heavy favorite to beat USC yet trailed by double-digits at halftime. Despite storming back in the second half and remaining undefeated, Franklin clearly did not believe there was anything worth celebrating.
