Legendary Steelers Quarterback Terry Bradshaw Says The Team Should Stick With Justin Fields At QB1 Over Russell Wilson

The Pittsburgh Steelers have gotten off to a good start this season (4-2 record) with Justin Fields at quarterback. And now heading into Week 7, head coach Mike Tomlin has made the decision to start Russell Wilson, who has just been taken off the injury report. With this in mind, many fans have noted that Fields has done good enough to keep the job, and one of those supporters is Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw, who played 14 seasons for the Steelers (1970-1984).

"He's played well enough to keep the job, in my opinion," Bradshaw told TMZ reporters.

"I'd hang my hat with the young guy... I'm gonna stay with Fields," he continued. "I think he's played really good. He's such a great athlete, he can throw, and I think he just fits the team he has right now."

Notably, both quarterbacks were acquired this offseason, 25-year-old Fields via trade and 35-year-old Wilson from free agency.

Heading into the season, the consensus was that Wilson was going to be the starter, until he suffered a setback with his calf injury.

In six games as the head signal caller, Fields has thrown for 1,106 yards and five touchdowns with only one interception. In addition, he has rushed for 231 yards and has five rushing touchdowns, but has fumbled four times.

Despite Bradshaw saying he deserved to stay the starter, Fields apparently has not been pleased with his own performance on the field, at least that is what he expressed during a recent interview.

"I don't think I played good enough," Fields said to reporters. "If I'm being real with you. If I'm being real with myself, I think if I did play well enough, I don't think there would be any sort of, who should be playing, who should not."

All in all, Bradshaw's opinion should be worth considering as he was the first overall pick by the Steelers in 1970 and went on to lead the team to four Super Bowl titles.

The next game for the Steelers will be vs. the New York Jets, October 20, and according to Tomlin, Wilson is most likely to take the field on Sunday Night Football.
