Texas Longhorn Fans Throw Beer Bottles Onto The Field After Controversial Call, Which Refs Decided To Overturn

During the No. 1 Texas vs. No. 5 Georgia game, the Longhorn fans started throwing beer cans and water bottles onto the field in response to a controversial pass interference call that was made.

This happened on a play in which Jahdae Barron caught his second interception of the game off of Carson Beck, who threw a total of three picks.

However, to everyone's surprise there was a flag on the field. Being that, the fans were rightfully upset that the game-changing interception was negated by a very questionable call.

Amid the chaos of all the bottles being thrown on Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium's field, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian had to try his best to calm the student section down.

That is to say, there was a 2-3 minute delay as they had to clear off the field, and this extra time allowed the refs to debrief. Within this break period, the call was overturned, and Texas was given possession.

The announcers Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler even referenced that it was actually the bottles being thrown, which granted the refs enough time to change their minds.

Then it didn't take long for the Longhorns to capitalize as Quinn Ewers threw a slant pass to Jaydon Blue which resulted in a touchdown, making the score 23-15.

In view of the highly anticipated game, it was a tale of two halves, as Texas was shutout in the first half, and quarterback Ewers only had 17 passing yards (-24 rushing yards). Then after getting settled in, Texas appeared to shift the momentum to their side, and it may have been in large part thanks to the student section.

With the crowd behind them, the Longhorns attempted to complete the comeback heading into the fourth quarter, however, the top ranked team in the country ultimately came up short, losing 30-15 to the Bulldogs.
