Brett Moffitt, who won the series title in 2018 with Hattori Racing Enterprises, will attempt to qualify for Friday night's Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway. He will do so while driving the No. 4 Chevrolet for Hettinger Racing, a new addition to the series.

Hettinger Racing is a Pro Late Model and Late Model Stock team. It also fielded an entry for Dawson Sutton in the ARCA Menards Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway in September.

According to a Tuesday morning announcement, Hettinger Racing purchased the assets of Bret Holmes Racing. The team will close out the season by competing at Martinsville and Phoenix. Hettinger Racing will then return in 2025 across multiple racing series.

BHR announced before Homestead that it would close its doors and not return to the series in 2024 or 2025.

"Between the investments I've made over the years in our Late Model program and the opportunity to purchase Bret Holmes Racing, the time was right to grow Hettinger Racing into a team that can further drivers' development by seamlessly transitioning them from Late Models to ARCA to Trucks," owner Chris Hettinger said in a statement.

"We'll continue our Late Model program by running the zMAX CARS Tour, and we'll run select ARCA and Truck Series races that fit best with our overall schedule. Brett Moffitt gives us a great opportunity to get a head start on 2025. He's proven himself in the Truck Series and his feedback from this week's race at Martinsville and next week's race at Phoenix will be invaluable.

"We've had a lot to do in a short period of time to get ready for these last two Truck Series races, and we're confident the effort we're putting in now will pay dividends next year."

Pairing with Moffitt provides the team with an abundance of experience in the NASCAR series. The Iowa native has 95 starts in the series, which includes three full-time seasons. He has won 13 races while driving for a variety of teams.

Moffitt's most recent win took place last season. He joined Front Row Motorsports for a one-off start at Talladega Superspeedway. He started 31st but led 22 laps en route to his first win since the 2020 season.

Martinsville Speedway is not a track where Moffitt has won. However, he has been in contention in four of his six Truck Series starts. He has posted top-three finishes in three starts and a sixth-place finish in another. Moffitt was involved in crashes in his last two starts at Martinsville after he started inside the top four.

Friday's race will be Moffitt's third Truck start this season. He previously joined Tricon Garage, a Toyota-affiliated team, for two intermediate tracks. He drove the No. 1 Tundra to a fifth-place finish at Kansas Speedway and a 15th-place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May.

Moffitt will not be the only former champion in the lineup on Friday. 2016 champion Johnny Sauter will attempt to make his fifth start of the season and his third for Hattori Racing Enterprises.
