The move took place Tuesday afternoon ahead of the trade deadline. The Commanders sent a third-, fourth- and sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to the Saints, who just fired head coach Dennis Allen. The NFC East team received Lattimore and a 2025 fifth-round pick.

Lattimore has been a starter since he landed with the Saints as the No. 11 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He immediately made an impact for the NFC South team as he intercepted five passes — returning one for a touchdown — and forced one fumble.

Lattimore earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl as a rookie, and he won Defensive Rookie of the Year.

The former Ohio State cornerback delivered standout seasons between 2019-21 as he earned three straight trips to the Pro Bowl and intercepted six passes. The Saints won the NFC South two times in that span while reaching the playoffs. The team fielded a top-15 pass defense in both 2020 and '21.

Lattimore has appeared in seven games this season while registering two pass breakups. He also has 30 tackles.

The veteran will now head to the NFC East to try to help a rising team contend for the division crown. He will join a team that already boasts the fifth-best pass defense with 184 yards allowed per game, per Fox Sports.

Lattimore also goes from the 2-7 Saints to the NFC East-leading Commanders, who boast a 7-2 record after hiring a new head coach in Dan Quinn, bringing in a new GM in Adam Peters, and drafting a franchise quarterback in Jayden Daniels.

Four games against division foes loom on the schedule — two against the Eagles and two against the Cowboys. The Commanders swept the Giants this season. Taking down the Eagles and Cowboys could give the Commanders a stranglehold on the division.
