Philadelphia 76ers star point guard Tyrese Maxey is expected to miss a couple weeks of action after suffering a right hamstring injury.
On Thursday, the Sixers said Maxey will undergo a "full evaluation" next week to determine a recovery timeline after an MRI confirmed his injury.
Maxey was ruled out in the fourth quarter of the Sixers' loss to the Clippers on Wednesday. He's served as a beacon for a Philly team riddled with injuries and player absences, averaging 27.6 points, 3.9 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 steals.
Head coach Nick Nurse summed it up as "not very good luck" when describing his team's depth situation. He added that despite the early troubles his squad needs to look forward, continue developing and play better.
Philadelphia is Off to A Rough Start
Injury woes continue to put a damper on a Sixers team trying to catch their bearings early in the season. Star forward Paul George, who signed with the team this past offseason, made his Sixers debut just this week after suffering a bone bruise in a preseason game.
The Sixers have also been forced to start the season without former league MVP Joel Embiid. The team has been open about his "load management" as Embiid continues to recover from his injuries.
Losing another star player is undoubtedly less than ideal for a Sixers team that sits at 1-6 to start the season. Sixers fans will likely be keeping their fingers crossed in hopes of a speedy recovery for their star guard.
