According to an update from the NFC East team, running back Brian Robinson Jr. will be active after logging limited practices earlier in the week. He upgraded to full participation on Wednesday, his last opportunity to show he was healthy for the matchup.
Robinson will see his first action for the Washington Commanders since an 18-15 win over the Chicago Bears. Robinson missed the win over the New York Giants and the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a hamstring injury.
Robinson, a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, is second on the Commanders in rushing. He has 461 yards and six touchdowns. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels leads the offense with 464 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
The Commanders have relied on a committee at times this season, but this approach became more critical during the two games that Robinson missed. Chris Rodriguez Jr., Jeremy McNichols, and Austin Ekeler all had at least eight rushing attempts against the Giants. Ekeler scored a touchdown while Rodriguez led the group with 52 yards.
The split was considerably different last weekend against the Steelers. Rodriguez only had two carries for four yards while McNichols had four carries for seven yards and a score. Ekeler led the group with 13 carries for 44 yards and two touchdowns.
The Eagles have the fifth-best defense in average rushing yards allowed, so getting Robinson back will only benefit the offense. He has averaged 4.6 yards per carry this season, and he has two games with at least 100 rushing yards.
Additionally, having Robinson in the lineup will potentially help the Commanders control the clock. The Eagles have the sixth-best total offense with an average of 373.9 yards per game. Having Robinson help extend drives will only keep AJ Brown, Saquon Barkley, and Jalen Hurts on the sideline.
