The veteran wide receiver told media members on Thursday that he remains optimistic that he will suit up for Sunday's game as he continues to recover from a wrist injury. His comments followed Cooper catching passes from quarterback Josh Allen during Thursday's practice session.
"Definitely feeling better," Cooper said during his availability. "Definitely more comfortable. So, just ready to play football again."
Cooper added that he will play with the cast that he has worn while recovering from the injury.
"Definitely not accustomed to catching with one of these (casts) on or playing with one of them on," he said. "...Don't really feel pain or anything catching the ball. Just gotta get used to catching the ball with it."
Cooper, who joined the Bills via trade before Week 7, has appeared in two games. He caught five passes for 66 yards and one touchdown during a win over the Titans and then he caught one pass for three yards in a win over the Seahawks.
This game against the Seahawks is when Cooper sustained the wrist injury. He remained out of the lineup for wins over the Dolphins and Colts. Khalil Shakir led the receivers with 50 yards against the Dolphins while Mack Hollins led the way with 86 yards against the Colts.
While the Bills are likely to get Cooper back against the Chiefs, the team will not have its rookie receiver in the lineup. Keon Coleman will continue to miss time as he recovers from a wrist injury.
The former Florida State receiver left the win over the Dolphins after catching one pass for 21 yards. He missed the game against the Colts. The Bills have also confirmed that he will miss Sunday's matchup against the Chiefs.
"It's a week-to-week deal," head coach Sean McDermott said during last week's appearance on WGR550. "It'll probably be multiple weeks."
Coleman has caught 22 passes for 417 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie.
