According to a Wednesday announcement, Richard Boswell will move to the No. 3 team while joining forces with Dillon for the first time. Boswell moves to RCR after several years at Stewart-Haas Racing.

Boswell most recently served as Chase Briscoe's crew chief and celebrated a Southern 500 win that put the No. 14 team into the playoffs in SHR's final season. Boswell also served as the crew chief for multiple drivers in the Xfinity Series. He celebrated nine wins in this role.

"I have tremendous respect for Richard Childress, Austin Dillon, and all of the hardworking people at Richard Childress Racing and I am honored to have the opportunity to help contribute to the on-track success of the legendary No. 3 Chevrolet," Boswell said in a statement.

"My dad used to race with Dale Earnhardt so he was always a huge fan and the No. 3 was the car we all grew up cheering for in my household so this truly feels like a full-circle moment."

Boswell is not the only former SHR crew chief to make the move. Johnny Klausmeier, who served as Briscoe's crew chief from 2021-23, will join as RCR's technical director. He will oversee all of the technical engineering activities for the organization.

Klausmeier has spent several seasons as a crew chief in NASCAR. He won three Cup races — one with Briscoe, one with Kurt Busch, and one with Aric Almirola. He also won an ARCA Menards Series West race with Briscoe.

As part of the announcement, RCR provided an update about interim competition director Keith Rodden. The veteran motorsports figure will receive a promotion and become vice president of competition.

Rodden took over as interim competition director after Andy Petree announced his midseason retirement. Rodden moved into this role for the trip to Nashville Superspeedway and remained through the end of the season as both Cup teams began showing improved performance.

Richard Childress Racing noted in its press release that Randall Burnett will remain the crew chief for Kyle Busch and the No. 8 team.

"Keith Rodden has stepped up in the interim competition director role this past season and has shown an eagerness to help improve and fine-tune all aspects of RCR," said Richard Childress in a statement. "That enthusiasm and loyalty earned him the title of vice president of competition. I know he will do a great job serving our competition executives.

John Klausmeier and Richard Boswell have both been great winners in the garage and I know their experience and skills will contribute to RCR's overall success. I feel confident that all of our crew chiefs will do a great job leading their respective teams and we will give our partners, employees, and fans plenty to be excited about in 2025.

"I'd like to acknowledge and thank Justin Alexander for his contribution to RCR. He and Austin Dillon won five Cup races together and we wish him the best."
