After spiking the ball, to make it a 3rd & 3 at the KC 32-yard line, the Raiders just needed to run one play and then attempt the game-winning field goal.
However, quarterback Aiden O'Connell had the ball snapped to him when he wasn't expecting it, and as a result the Chiefs recovered the fumble and won 19-17.

To note, a penalty was thrown on the play which was because of a false start, that was later changed to an illegal shift by the Raiders. Ultimately, it was ruled Chiefs' ball after they declined the penalty.
There is no absolutely no way the Raiders Center just blew that for the whole team are you kidding me 🤯🤯🤯 #Vegas #Chiefs pic.twitter.com/Ad8DUl7InP

With this in mind, Raiders fans are also outraged because the whistle was blown before the fumble was even recovered.
I’m extremely confused. The ref on the top of the screen clearly called the play dead. The Chiefs declined the flag and awarded the fumble recovery. Raiders were robbed pic.twitter.com/OwfoTKnYBR

refs were blowing the play dead before the fumble was recovered. Even if you say it's an illegal shift and not a false start, you just can't give them the fumble with the whistle blowing. Raiders are stupid for getting to the line so late, but the refs completely botched this one https://t.co/UlohzSq23Z

Some believe it should have just been a dead-ball penalty, which means it wouldn't have been a change of possession.
@NFL someone explain why the fumbled mattered on that last play? Illegal shifts call the play dead at the snap… meaning the fumble shouldn’t count and it’s just a 5 yard penalty… #NFL #CheifsRaiders #Raiders #Cheifs pic.twitter.com/6hnDALY2Tq

I can’t believe that just happened.

In view of the chances the Raiders had late in the game, kicker Daniel Carlson had three missed kicks (1-for-4), and one of which included a potential game-winning 58-yard field goal with 2:21 left in regulation.

In what some are calling yet another lucky Chiefs win, Patrick Mahomes had 306 passing yards and a touchdown pass to Justin Watson. To point out, this means the two-time MVP has now passed Len Dawson to overtake the franchise touchdown record (238).
This touchdown pass was Patrick Mahomes' 238th of his career, which is the most in Chiefs franchise history.

Despite the last play blunder, second-year Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell had a career-high 340 passing yards to go along with two touchdowns.
