The team announced the news Wednesday afternoon while in the middle of the Bye week. Johnson will be eligible to return to the lineup in Week 16.

"We have made the difficult decision to suspend Diontae Johnson for our upcoming game against the New York Giants for conduct detrimental to the team," EVP/GM Eric DeCosta said in a statement.

"Diontae's suspension stems from refusing to enter our game against the Philadelphia Eagles. We will have no further comments on this matter going forward."

Johnson has only appeared in four games this season for the Baltimore Ravens. He caught one pass for six yards against the Cincinnati Bengals. He was held without a catch in games against the Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Eagles, and Pittsburgh Steelers while being targeted only four other times.

The Ravens acquired the former third-round pick in an Oct. 29 trade with the Panthers. The team sent a fifth-round pick in exchange for the receiver and a sixth-round pick.

Johnson had caught 30 passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns in seven starts for the Panthers this season while playing with both Andy Dalton and Bryce Young. His best game was against the Raiders as he posted 122 yards and one touchdown.

The veteran receiver spent the first five seasons of his career with the Steelers. He caught 391 passes for 4,363 yards and 25 touchdowns. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2021, his lone season with more than 1,000 receiving yards.

Now 8-5, the Ravens are second in the AFC North behind the rival Steelers. The team is idle this weekend but will return to action in Week 15 against the Giants as Diontae Johnson serves his suspension.

The Ravens will close out the regular season with a Dec. 21 game against the Steelers, a Dec. 25 game against the Texans, and a Jan. 5 game against the Browns.
