Reportedly, this deal with Belichick is currently being finalized (per Adam Schefter). That is, sources state that the UNC Board of Trustees have a meeting scheduled for 9:00 am tomorrow, when they are supposed to approve the contract.

With Belichick taking his talents to college football, it undoubtedly will be a boost to UNC, in their attempt to match North Carolina's basketball team's success, as their recruiting will seemingly skyrocket.

Earlier this week, while on the Pat McAfee show, Belichick elaborated on his approach to coaching 18-22 year olds compared to grown men.

"IF I was in a College program it would be a pipeline to the NFL for the players that had the ability to play in the NFL... It would be a professional program at the college level... I don't have any doubt that the players would be ready for the NFL."

All in all, the 72-year-old coach is following in the footsteps of his father, Steve Belichick, who was an assistant coach in Chapel Hill from 1953-1955.

Ultimately, after firing 35-year college coach Mack Brown, it looks like a new regime will take over in attempt to turn the Tarheels' program around. To note, North Carolina has only won one bowl game in the last decade.

Certainly, the success Belichick had over his 24-year tenure with the Patriots has him regarded as one of the best coaches in football history. And fans are hoping this will translate to the college level.

The eight-time Super Bowl winning head coach currently has the second-most NFL wins all-time; Belichick (333-178; .652 winning %) only trails Don Shula (357-173-6; .641 winning %).

After taking over the North Carolina program, Belichick gives the Tarheels a great chance to improve on their mediocre 6-6 season.
