The play occurred with 9:35 remaining in the third quarter of the AFC matchup. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw a pass in the direction of DuBose, who leaned forward while trying to catch the pass. Safety Calen Bullock went to make the tackle, but his helmet collided with DuBose's helmet.

This hit knocked the Dolphins receiver to the ground. He remained there for several minutes while receiving medical attention. He was placed onto a stretcher and taken off of the field after the medical team cut off his jersey and unscrewed his face mask.

The entire Dolphins roster formed a prayer circle nearby as DuBose received medical attention.

"Dolphins WR Grant DuBose has been ruled out with a head injury," the team said in a statement after the long delay. "He is in stable condition and being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation."

A seventh-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, DuBose started his career with the Green Bay Packers. He spent his rookie season on the practice squad and did not appear in a game.

The Packers released DuBose in August 2024, and the Dolphins claimed him off waivers. He appeared in the first two games of the season and caught one pass for 13 yards against the Bills. This pass was good enough for a first down. DuBose then headed to Injured Reserve on Sept. 21 due to a shoulder injury.

The Dolphins activated DuBose from Injured Reserve ahead of this weekend's game against the Texans. They then listed him as active for the AFC matchup.

DuBose joined a receiving corps. on Sunday that also included Tyreek Hill, Malik Washington, and Jaylen Waddle. Fellow depth receiver Dee Eskridge was inactive for the game.
