Ohio State Fans Clown Penn State After Advancing to Natty
However, winning wasn't enough for the Buckeyes faithful. They also felt the need to add insult to injury. After their bitter rival, the Penn State Nittany Lions, fell to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in their semifinal matchup the previous night, Ohio State fans let Penn State fans know that they are still the kings of the Big Ten conference.
"Penn State fans, between tonight and the Ohio state game, never insert yourself into the top tier of teams nationally ever again. They're a fringe Big10 team at best," one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"Penn State should have beaten Notre Dame by 10+ but there is James Franklin," another fan added.
Marcus Freeman Sends Message to Notre Dame Critics
But despite their tough road to the semifinal, there are some who question why the Irish even made the field. Being that Notre Dame is not connected to a conference which some also believe gives them an unfair advantage. When asked about those critics, Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman said that he and athletic director, Pete Bevacqua will continue to do what is best for the program moving forward.
"I'm a guy that just [thinks], 'Tell us what we're doing and let's go, and you move forward,'" Freeman said. "I love where we're at right now. [Athletic director] Pete Bevacqua and our Notre Dame administration will continue to make decisions that are best for our program."
However, Penn State head coach James Franklin offered a different perspective, saying that the selection committee needs to view things "from a big-picture perspective."
