According to news station WBRZ, sources said that Hurley's Dodge Charger crashed into a tree at South Quad Drive and Highland Road. The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. Thursday.

The outlet reports that firefighters pulled an unresponsive Hurley out of the vehicle and that he had a large cut on his face. He was breathing but was in and out of consciousness.

According to WBRZ, the police do not suspect impairment as a cause of the crash. There is no information currently available about Hurley's medical condition.

The Jacksonville native joined LSU as a true freshman last season at the age of 16 after reclassifying. He had originally been a member of the 2025 recruiting class, but he joined the Tigers one year early.

Hurley spent the season as the backup to starting quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. He is expected to remain in this role as Nussmeier continues to lead the LSU offense.

Before joining LSU, Hurley appeared in 40 games for Trinity Christian Academy between 2020-24. He completed more than 50% of his throws for 5,984 yards, 67 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions.

Hurley's most prolific season as a passer was his senior year (2023-24) based on MaxPreps' records. He threw for 2,242 yards and 26 touchdowns with seven interceptions.

Hurley also led the Trinity Christian Academy Conquerors to a FHSAA State Championship as a freshman in 2021-22. He led multiple scoring drives during the championship game while throwing for 125 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Meanwhile, running backs Darnell Rogers and Treyaun Webb rushed for a combined 353 yards and five touchdowns.

Hurley, who won his second state championship at the age of 14, made history during his freshman season. According to Trinity Christian Academy, he became the youngest African American high school quarterback in Jacksonville history to win a state championship.
