In an unforseen turn of events, the Lions were completely outclassed by the Commanders at home. Allowing starting quarterback Jayden Daniels and the Washington offense to put up a whopping 45 points. And after another huge win for the rookie Daniels, the Commanders now have a date with the NFC Championship Game where they will take on the winner of the Eagles, Rams divisional round.
After Daniels and the Commanders stunned the red-hot Lions, social media erupted.
"The Lions are suffering death by a thousand fourth down conversions. It's almost poetic," one fan said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"So disappointed in the Lions tonight. I'm sick," another user added.
Commanders' Jayden Daniels Drawing the Ire of Donald Trump
The Washington Commanders have undoubtedly been the biggest surprise of the NFL season. After their win over the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday night, the Commanders are heading to the playoffs for the first time since 2020. Washington was not expected to make much of an impact this season. However, that has all changed because of their rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who has thrown 25 touchdowns and just 9 interceptions this year.
Daniels is not just catching the attention of NFL fans across the country, he has also piqued the interest of President-elect Donald Trump.
According to NFL insider Dov Kleiman, Trump is apparently a big Daniels fan, noting that the incoming POTUS is "well aware," of who Daniels is and believes he should be Rookie of the Year and possibly NFL MVP. The conversation apparently happened in a meeting between Trump and DC Mayor, Muriel Bowser.
"President-Elect Donald Trump is "well aware" of Jayden Daniels and why he should be Rookie of the Year and possibly the MVP," Kleiman writes.
"This conversation occurred in a meeting between President-Elect Donald Trump and DC Mayor Muriel Bowser."
