Green: 'I Really Am Sorry'

Poole reflected on his stint in the Bay Area after his Washington Wizards lost 122-114 to the Warriors on Saturday night. He expressed admiration for his former club during postgame interviews, saying, "I love those guys over there" before adding "I love most of those guys over there."

Fans online quickly surmised that the Wizards guard was making digs at Draymond Green after senior NBA writer Marc J. Spears shared the quote on X. Green apparently got the same feeling and commented "I really am sorry" underneath the post.

Fans immediately hit the comments, most in shock.

Ahead of the 2022-23 NBA season, Green and then-Warriors guard Jordan Poole got into an altercation during training camp that ultimately ended with Poole being struck in the face.

Green said he was ashamed of his actions during the incident and tried to keep his distance from his squad throughout the season.

"I was so embarrassed to be around our team last year with [Jordan Poole] still on the [Warriors]," Green said.

"Because I was so embarrassed to show my face at that time that I would start timing everything. If we're on the road, I'd time it up to the minute that I'd need to get there. If the elevator took a little bit longer than it was supposed to, I'd be late."

Draymond Has Done Some Personal Work Since Last Season

Draymond Green aggressive nature got him in trouble prior to Poole and it didn't subside any afterwards. But after striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurki? in the face during a game last season, the NBA placed Green in league-mandated therapy as a condition of his indefinite suspension.

While there was initial skepticism, Green eventually came to appreciate the sessions and what they did for his mental health.

"These meetings became so therapeutic for me," he told ESPN. "It's helping me, and I f—-ing love it. My plan is to do these meetings for the rest of my career because they're incredible."

The 34-year-old has yet to get into any trouble with the leagu eso far during the 2024-25 season.
