The Detroit Lions are expecting some major changes on both sides of the ball in 2025. Head coach Dan Campbell has made it clear that he is prepared to lose his offensive and defensive coordinators.

Campbell addressed his team's future on Jan. 20 during a season-ending press conference. Some questions focused on whether the Super Bowl window has closed while others focused on offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.

Johnson and Glenn have been hot prospects for the numerous teams seeking new head coaches. The group of suitors includes the Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, and New York Jets among other teams.

"I would expect to lose both," Campbell said about Johnson and Glenn. "I haven't been told anything, but I've got a feeling. I'm prepared to lose both."

There is a reason for Campbell's belief that he will replace some coordinators before next season. The reason is that the 15-2 Lions broke numerous franchise records en route to the top seed in the playoffs.

Johnson's offense ranked second in the league behind the Ravens with 409.5 yards per game. It led the league with 70 total touchdowns and an average of 33.2 points per game.

Glenn's defense did not lead the league in yards allowed; it ranked 20th with 342.4 yards per game. The run defense was fifth-best in the league while giving up an average of 98.4 yards per game. The Lions were seventh-best in red zone defense and scoring defense while allowing only an average of 20.1 points per game.

Losing Glenn and Johnson will be a significant blow to the Lions, but Campbell does not expect it to knock his team out of Super Bowl contention. In fact, he has laid out his plans for replacing the two dynamic coordinators so that the NFC North team can continue delivering standout seasons.

"We've got guys on staff that I think are more than qualified and would be outstanding in those roles," Campbell said. "But that does not mean that I'm not looking outside either.

"I want what I believe is going to be as close to what we have been as possible and we don't lose what we're about and our identity. ...We're going to stay true to who we are, and if you are somebody who doesn't feel comfortable with that then this isn't the job for you."
